Everything you need to know about how Mise works.
A kitchen is a shared recipe library for a team. Everyone in the kitchen sees the same recipes. Add a recipe to a kitchen and it appears for every member instantly — no forwarding, no duplicates. Your personal library stays separate.
Two ways. When capturing a new recipe, choose which kitchens to save it to at the review stage — you can pick personal, one kitchen, or several at once. For an existing personal recipe, open it and tap "Send to [Kitchen Name]" at the bottom.
Yes. When capturing, tick as many destinations as you like — My Recipes, a kitchen, or both. Each gets its own copy of the recipe.
They see everything. The full kitchen library is visible to all current members — new joiners have access to every recipe from day one.
Yes — all kitchen members can edit any recipe in the kitchen. Changes are visible to everyone immediately. There is no version conflict; last edit wins.
The person who added it, or the kitchen owner. Other members can edit but not delete.
The kitchen recipes stay in the kitchen — they belong to the kitchen, not to you personally. You lose access when you leave. Your personal recipes are unaffected.
Saving a kitchen recipe to your personal library is a paid feature — it counts as one of your 5 free recipes. On the free plan, you can still view kitchen recipes (up to your recipe allowance) but can't save them to your personal library. Upgrade for £5/month to unlock this.
Go to Settings → Join with code. Enter the six-character invite code from the kitchen owner. This sends a join request — the kitchen owner or an admin will approve or reject it. You'll get access as soon as it's approved.
Yes. Each extra kitchen costs its own £5/month. A head chef working across two restaurants would pay for two — one for each kitchen. The free plan includes one kitchen.
Yes — joining a kitchen is free. You can join or create one kitchen on the free plan. Your 5 free recipes cover both personal recipes and how many kitchen recipes you can view: create fewer personal recipes and more of the kitchen is visible to you. Create 0 personal recipes and you can see the 5 oldest kitchen recipes. Upgrade to join more than one kitchen and see every recipe in all of them.
On the free plan, you can see 5 recipes total across everything — personal recipes you create and kitchen recipes you can view, oldest first. If you have 3 personal recipes, you can see the 2 oldest recipes in any kitchen you're in. The rest are locked. This updates live — delete a personal recipe and the next-oldest kitchen recipe can become visible in its place. Upgrade for £5/month to see every recipe in every kitchen you belong to.
Free gives you two things: you can create up to 5 personal recipes total, ever (this cap is permanent — deleting one doesn't free up room to create another), and you can view up to 5 recipes at a time, shared between personal recipes and kitchen recipes, oldest first. Create 3 personal recipes and you can see the 2 oldest recipes in any kitchen you join. You can still be in a kitchen once you've used all 5 — the rest of its recipes just stay locked until you upgrade. Upgrade for £5/month: unlimited personal recipes, see all kitchen recipes, and save kitchen recipes to your personal library.
On the free plan, 5 AI imports in total — this doesn't reset, since free is a one-time trial, not an ongoing allowance. On a paid plan, it's 50 AI imports every month, resetting on your own billing date rather than the calendar month. This is a technical cost control on the AI reading step, not a recipe-count limit — you can still add unlimited recipes manually while paid; the cap only applies to AI photo/voice capture.
Your oldest 5 recipes stay fully accessible for free, forever — personal recipes first, then kitchen recipes if you have fewer than 5 personal ones. Recipes beyond that are kept safe but locked behind an upgrade prompt until you resubscribe — nothing is deleted. You stay in every kitchen you've joined too, just with the same 5-recipe view limit applied there. We're also planning a one-off recipe book export so you'll always be able to take your recipes with you.
Yes. On the capture screen, tap the microphone instead of the camera. Just describe the recipe out loud — name, ingredients, method, serves — and Mise structures it for you. Good for recipes you know by heart or when there's no written card to photograph.
Notes let you add personal thoughts to any recipe — your own tweaks, things to remember, what worked or didn't. They're private to you, even on shared kitchen recipes. Find them at the bottom of any recipe page.
Yes. On any recipe, tap the microphone in the notes section. Hold to record, release to stop. Mise transcribes it and saves it as a text note — no typing needed. Useful mid-service when your hands are busy.
A small green arrow on a recipe card means you have shared that personal recipe to at least one kitchen. A small amber dot means something was flagged during the AI capture — an unclear quantity, missing step, or ambiguous instruction. Open the recipe to see the flags, and dismiss them once you've reviewed and are happy with the recipe.
